Hello There! My name is Marina Botros Jenkins, and I am the new Art teacher here at Roberts Elementary School. I realize it is a privilege to teach at Roberts and am proud and honored to be part of the team.
A little about my self. . . I come to Roberts with a lot of diverse experience. After graduating with a BFA from the University of North Texas in 2005, I went on to teach studio art (2-D & 3-D) and AP art history for 5 years in the Houston area. While teaching, I also received my Masters Degree in Art History from the University of St. Thomas. Upon completion in 2010, I began working on my PhD. in Art History at the University of Texas in Dallas, where I was also an art history and art appreciation TA.. While in the program in Dallas I also taught studio art classes at a children's art school, Kids 'N' Art. My husband, Mark and I met in the PhD. program, married in 2012, and welcomed our baby daughter, Anneka, into the world on December 10, 2014.
My little family decided we wanted to get back to Houston to be close to family, which is how I, fortunately, landed at Roberts. Lucky for me, because this place is wonderful. I truly look forward to making art with your kiddos this year. Teaching art and making memories with students from all backgrounds is my passion and where I am happiest! So to say the least, I am thrilled to be here!
Please check back here regularly to see what your kids are creating this school year. Don't forget to check out our Art Room Wish List too.
